Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) own the site after purchasing it from the Ministry of Defence in 2012. The former RAF and NATO site previously housed 2,000 military personnel and the infrastructure remains on-site to support extensive operations.
Situated at the Southern end of the Kintyre peninsula and surrounded by coastline, the location enjoys some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. Away from any major population centres, the area is a haven for tourists with two world class links golf course and a strong whisky heritage.
The site is now home to almost 50 thriving businesses and the development of the site has been driven by a supportive local community.
The former RAF Machrihanish was a strategically important site during the cold war. Purchased by the community for £1 in 2012, it is now home to almost 50 thriving businesses which ranges from a 25m commercial shooting range to the UK’s leading wind tower manufacturer.
With twice daily flights operated by Loganair, limited air traffic means our site has unrivalled available airspace, good on-site infrastructure and significant development potential.
There are three jet fuel storage installations (JFSIs) on site which have a total capacity of 6.25million litres. Fed by ocean terminal via underground pipeline that runs from Campbeltown, the site offers an excellent facility for storage of fuel and hazardous materials.
Boasting 1,000 acres of opportunity, our site offers unlimited development potential and a unique range of buildings.
